Really disappointed with the lack of follow-through and lack of compassion in the Plymouth, Mn Police Dept. that we have experienced with recent calls to put area or when trying to be a good citizen.

  • This morning Officer Buske called a man from Colorado who was threatening me, a middle aged woman, saying him and his "biker brothers" would come to my house after Sturges "to play games with me" and "good luck" because I reported him to the IRS (long story there). He is a bazaar man, clearly grandiose, and possibly not really a threat, but truly it is so hard to know about the lengths people with egos like this will actually go. I have been surprised before by what appears to be a man who is angry with a woman because they are not able to blackmail and bully her into silence. Officer M. Buske was very courteous and helpful, he went above and beyond what I hoped by calling this man personally and suggesting he not pay the visit he was threatening. I feel so much safer because of it and I am grateful for his calming and defusing action and presence. Thank you officer Buske!!

  • Great place with compassionate peace officers. I get confused what goes on when there is no logic, facts, or reasoning dealt with me being an abnormal evolutionary type and they reassure me through the psychological scientific special training they had that we as a society are not schismed because what we see that is projecting through broadcasted breaking news should not be taking so harsh in the ways of daily life and how we the people get along with each other. If we let all these so called he said she said tongue and cheek televised rubbish get to us, it will only tear us apart through blind fear. This police department really brings the peace and unity through such a calm and understanding tone of voice. The tone for sure because it is so soft yet firm in comfort to soothe us as equals. Judging never helps and when talking to the peace officers, I go through it as being peaceful too because war never helps anyone or anything. I am totally anti-war and I'm an ethical vegetarian anarchist that wants total freedom for everyone with mutual aide and of course world peace and prosperity. They got the recognition award here for a reason because words and nonviolent actions are more powerful than weapons.

  • I'm usually anti-cop, as in the past they more often seem to be giving me a ticket than helping me—though that's observer's bias. I did a ride along with an officer one evening. It was a bit of an eye opener. I definitely got the sense of camaraderie amongst the officers working that shift while also observing an obvious passion to serve the community—which, honestly, surprised me. Being a former Bloomington resident, my impression of police was somewhat oppressive, where every single traffic stop has at least two squads involved, and despite every reasonable effort to be a law-abiding decent citizen, I still felt like I was being treated the same as a convicted criminal. Plymouth is a fairly large suburb not without its share of crime, traffic incidents, and high density low/fixed-income housing units—it faces similar challenges as inner city as well as exurbs, facing issues such as gangs, drugs, vagrancy/homelessness as well as typical medical emergencies. I personally witnessed officers responding to a medical call, a traffic incident as well as dealing with drunk drivers. The process seemed fairly efficient, and the technology available within the car obviously increased the officer's ability to focus on people over paperwork.
